Kohler has nominated the Lombardini plant in Reggio Emilia as the KOHLER group centre of excellence. The production facility at Reggio Emilia will produce the new, innovative KDI engine that was developed to meet the Final TIER 4 – Stage IIIB regulations set to take effect on January 1, 2013. What does that mean? That Lombardini’s “Made in Italy” quality represents the highest possible levels, a form of excellence to invest in. It is just this search for excellence in product quality, customer service and competitiveness that has been the driving force behind the choice of production processes. Indeed, while cost objectives often require that products be produced in Asian countries such as China and India, the pursuit of high standards of product quality, and especially the need to offer a superior level of service involving short delivery times required, that KOHLER chose the Reggio Emilia plant for their production strategy. “Made in Italy”wonout,also and above all on the basis of consolidated and reliable know-how. The KDI production line, divided into three parts, each dedicated to a specific assembly phase, distinguishes itself with its high level of automation and scrupulous attention to quality standards. The new KDI engine production line is an example of innovation not just as an end unto itself – thanks to the integrated SAP enterprise resource management system, production management will be strictly linked to all company processes, from purchasing to planning, from sales to logistics.
